Careers FAQs for Students

You can book a Careers appointment online - log into your account with your student login details.  Click on the Appointments tab and select ‘Careers Appointment’ and ‘View appointments’. This will show you a list of all our upcoming appointments, with the names of the consultants running them. There is a choice of locations: ‘Remote careers appointments’ will be either via a Teams meeting link or the telephone. ‘Careers Office, Carrington Building – remote appointments available on request’ will be in-person appointments unless otherwise requested. Please note that a Teams link will only be emailed shortly before the appointment time.

If you would like any documents reviewed during your appointment, such as a CV or covering letter, please email you’re the documents to careers@reading.ac.uk before your appointment.

If you need any adjustments made to access your appointment, please add them in the relevant box, call 0118 378 8359 or email careers@reading.ac.uk.  Please note that these appointments can only be booked up to 7 days in advance, so more will become available in time.

If you find you are unable to attend the appointment, please remember to cancel so you free up the slot for another student.

For students with an interview coming up, we run ‘mock interview’ appointments with our Careers Consultants to give you practice or help you prepare.  Final year students will be able to , all other students please call 0118 378 8359 or email careers@reading.ac.uk.
Login to your with your student login details.Ìý Click on the Search bar, select Events and scroll through list of events coming up for the term.Ìý To book, click on the title to find out more, then click the blue ‘Book’ button.
If the My Jobs Online event information states it is a webinar, you will be able to access it via our . You should be auto-enrolled onto our organisation, but if you have any issues please email careers@reading.ac.uk. You can find upcoming webinars on Blackboard, under ‘Careers Fairs, Events, And Online Event Login Details’ or access the webinar live by clicking ‘Join Session’ in the ‘Class Collaborate’ section on the left hand side. You can access webinars up to 15 minutes before they begin.

For Undergraduate students in years 1 and 2 who would like to discuss their placement needs and support, book a placement appointment with a Placement Co-ordinator.Ìý and select ‘Placement Appointment’ this may include your course name.ÌýÌý

If you are just starting to think about placements/internships/work experience, check out the Work Experience Framework .Ìý To discuss how it would tie-in to your career planning you can book a Telephone Careers Appointment/Placement appointment with one of our consultants.Ìý with your student login details, click on the Appointments tab and select the appointment type you wish to book.Ìý Or email careers@reading.ac.uk orÌý placements@reading.ac.uk ( if specific placement query).

Have you graduated from your course? You can register for an Alumni account with a personal email address. Please note, a team member will approve your account so you will not be able to access it immediately after registering. If you have finished your course but have yet to graduate, you can continue to use your student account until you no longer have access to your student email account. At which time, your alumni account will be approved if you have already requested one.
