Pre Entry Travel Bursary

About the bursary

This Bursary provides a contribution towards travel costs at a rate of 45p per mile (up to a max of £300).

It is available (dependent on eligibility) for a visit to the University for the purposes of an Offer Holder Day or Interview Day.

Who is Eligible

  • UK undergraduate students who have been invited to an Offer Holder Day or Interview by the department to which they have applied and who live within an area of low participation of young people progressing into higher education (POLAR4 quintile 1 or 2) or be from an area of general disadvantage according to the governments Indices of Multiple Deprivation quintile 1 or 2.
  • Available to students of all subjects

Please note that this bursary is for travel to Offer Holder days and Interviews only, not Open Days.

How to Apply

You can find out if you are eligible and apply via the Use your confirmed Reading ID number as the username and your date of birth in the format DDMMYYYY as the password. You will then be asked for your RISIS security password. 

Once you have accessed the portal, select Applications (located on the menu at the top of the screen), Offer Holder and Interview Days, find out if you are eligible (located at the right-hand side of the page). Download a screenshot of the RISIS portal for a guide on how to find these options.
