Digital FAQs

    What is my username?

    Your username has two letters and six numbers, for example ab123456. The six numbers are the last six digits of your student number. You should receive your username as the last step of enrolment.

    What is my password?

    You set your own password during the last step of enrolment. You use the same password for everything.

    What is my email address?

    You will receive this during the last step of enrolment.

    How can I get the Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc) through the university?

    What is Me@Reading student, the Welcome app and the UoR Student app?

    Me@Reading student

    Like Me@Reading applicant, Me@Reaing student is a place that you can access personalised (to your course) student news, information and events. You can also find links to other services like your inbox, student services, your timetable and more.

     

    The Welcome app

    The Welcome app contains everything you need to plan the perfect arrival and welcome period:

    • View all events and activities taking place during the welcome period
    • Create a bespoke welcome programme based on activities organised by your school of study, and the support and services that are available to you as a student at Reading.
    • Plan your arrival journey and discover campus before you arrive
    • Stay up to date with the latest news and updates sent straight to your mobile
    • Quickly access and save your school information and introduction sessions from Head of School or Department

    The UoR Student app

    The UoR Student app has been designed specifically for you and brings together essential information, helping you to stay organised, informed and connected during your study years.

    The app delivers plenty of handy features right to your fingertips including:

    • A personalised newsfeed from the Me@Reading student portal
    • Quick access to campus maps and location services
    • Notifications of the most important news and updates
    • Verify you are a students via the digital student card

    How do I get IT support?

    Log into the . You can log a ticket and DTS will get back to you. If you can’t log in, you can email it@reading.ac.uk instead.

    For Blackboard issues, links to contact the TEL support team are located on Blackboard.

    How can I get software needed for my courses?

    Most software can be requested from the Or you can run software without installing it from appsanywhere.reading.ac.uk, this is especially useful on university computers.

    How do I connect to Wi-Fi?

    Once you have your username and password, you can connect to the University’s campus Wi-Fi network, Eduroam, which is available to all students. This is different to the Wi-Fi network found in your University halls. Please check your halls arrival information for details or check with your halls reception. 

    To connect to Wi-Fi on any device:  

    1. In your Wi-Fi settings, select "Eduroam" from the list of available networks (on Android you may also need to enter a domain – use radius.auth.reading.ac.uk).  
    2. Enter your username (format: ab123456@reading.ac.uk) and the password you set up in RISIS)  
    3. If you have any difficulties, you can visit reading.ac.uk/wifi or contact our IT Service Desk Team on 0118 378 6262.
