The University recommends all first-year students select a Meal Plan with your Accommodation choice to support your transition to life at university and help you reach your full potential academically. 

We offer a choice of 3, 7, 14 or unlimited number of Meals per week across 5 large dining sites to all students regardless of where you live.

Single-sex accommodation

Single-sex areas are available at St George's Hall, subject to availability. Please contact us for details as this is not guaranteed. Single-sex university accommodation means sharing a flat (not a room) with other students of the same sex.

Please be aware in either male or female single-sex accommodation, guests (including overnight guests) may be of a different sex. Visiting staff members (cleaners, maintenance staff etc.) may also be of a different sex.

Accessibility

There is lift access in some St George's Hall buildings. Please contact us about this if you have any concerns.

Accommodation Guarantee


Prospective students are guaranteed a place in halls if they are:

  • A new full-time undergraduate who holds Reading as a Firm UCAS choice and applies for accommodation by 1 August** and satisfies any conditions of their academic offer by 3 September 2025.
  • A new full-time postgraduate who has accepted an offer from the University and applies for accommodation by 1 August** and satisfies any conditions of their academic offer by 3 September 2025.
