Accommodation for Clearing applicants

University accommodation provides a safe and secure place for you to live, study and socialise as part of a supportive community.

We are able to provide accommodation to some of our students who apply via Clearing. The number of rooms available varies each year, depending on the number of successful applications to the University. What we have available will depend on when you apply.

See our dedicated information on how to apply for your place in halls.

Please note that you cannot apply for accommodation until the 色狗导航 becomes your firm choice.

If you apply and confirm your place between 5 July and 5 August 2025

If you receive and accept your Clearing offer between 5 July and 17:00 on 5 August, you can apply for accommodation early and are guaranteed a room as a result.

Applying in good time means you can make your accommodation booking before the UCAS embargo begins on 6 August. If you accept your offer after this date, you will be applying with other Clearing applicants and may not be guaranteed a room.

If you apply on or after 14 August 2025

For applicants applying and accepting their offer from 14 August onwards, we cannot guarantee a place in halls. However, we currently have a range of options with good availability.

Accommodation is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Please apply for accommodation as soon as you can, and accept any room offer within the indicated timeframe.

Clearing accommodation

We've reserved a variety of single occupancy rooms within University halls and our chosen partner halls specifically for Clearing applicants.

Room types include Meal Plan halls with shared bathrooms and premium en-suite self-catered rooms, suitable for a variety of budgets.

Planning to live at home?

Not all students want or need to move to attend university. It鈥檚 becoming more common for students to live at home and travel to campus.

We want our commuting students to feel just as much a part of our community as those who live on campus. The 色狗导航 can be a great option due to our:

  • excellent transport links. Reading train station is a major transport hub, so it鈥檚 easy to travel to Reading from many parts of the UK. Reading Buses runs regular direct bus services from the station to the University.
  • parking on campus. Although parking is limited, you can apply for a parking permit if you are eligible.
  • support and socialising opportunities. Commuter students can use all of the University鈥檚 facilities and support services, join our clubs and societies, and get a part-time job on campus. We also offer welcome events for commuter students and can connect you with a commuter student mentor.
