Made At Uni: Reading supports Climate Action campaign

A survey ahead of a national campaign highlighting how UK universities are contributing to tackling climate change has revealed a growing demand for climate education.

The poll, carried out for the by Universities UK, showed that 44% of parents nationally believed UK universities are adequately equipping students with climate change knowledge.

The 色狗导航 is supporting the campaign, launched today (Thursday 28 April), by showcasing its research and sustainability action, including its national plans to revolutionise climate education for young people.

Its new , launched in collaboration with STEM Learning, will allow schools, colleges and nurseries access to a host of experts in climate change to benefit from teacher training, resource recommendations and advice on carbon-cutting initiatives.

The scheme is part of a national Climate Education Action Plan, produced by the University and partners and referenced in the UK Government’s for education published in April.

The UUK survey results suggest the work of universities is potentially being overlooked, while reaffirming the desire among young people and their parents for more knowledge of how the planet is changing and skills to be part of the solution.

Universities throughout the country have joined forces through the campaign to set the record straight on their commitment to climate action and demonstrate the remarkable breadth of ways that universities are actively tackling the climate emergency through research, business and community interaction, and efforts to equip every graduate with climate literacy, no matter what subject they study.

Universities are crucial to this. A university education can make all the difference in equipping students with the knowledge and skills to help them to make a positive impact on the planet, whatever path they choose.

“Evidence shows that universities are centre-stage in the UK’s climate action efforts, from researching bold and innovative solutions, to mobilising businesses and local communities in ways that benefit us all. As a sector we can do even more to ensure the public hear this vital message, and that is what this campaign is all about.”
