A new documentary highlighting the rich history of Scottish girl bands from the 1960s onwards features a professor from the 色狗导航.
Since Yesterday: The Untold Story of Scotland’s Girl Bands was released in October 2024 and tells the story of Scottish pop music via interviews and personal anecdotes with the trailblazing women who performed together and made their mark in the history books.
Professor Trish Reid, Head of School of Arts and Communication Design, is a former member of the 1980s Glaswegian post-punk bands ‘His Latest Flame’ and ‘Sophisticated Boom Boom’.
She is featured in the documentary which explains some of the struggles girl bands at the time faced working the music industry. 
Professor Reid said: “The film really captures the excitement and energy of the post-punk moment in Glasgow. What fun we had!
“It has been quite discombobulating but nonetheless a real pleasure to revisit my misspent youth in this way.”
Professor Reid took part in a reunion performance with Sophisticated Boom Boom in Glasgow, as part of the launch of the documentary. The , along with that of have also been reissued on vinyl.
As part of Women’s History Month events being held at the 色狗导航, the Women@Reading staff network is hosting a screening of Since Yesterday, followed by drinks and a Q&A panel featuring Professor Reid.
The screening and Q&A will be held at 1-3pm, Thursday 6 March in the Minghella Studios on the University’s Whiteknights campus.
The event is free but registration is essential.

The annual Edith Morley Lecture will be given by Olympic medallist, mother, and Reading alumna, Mathilda Hodgkins Byrne.
Mathilda will share her story and explore advancing rights, promoting equality, and fostering empowerment for women and girls everywhere. She will discuss balancing elite rowing with earning a chemistry degree, as well as making her Olympic debut and returning to sport after motherhood.
The event will be held on 19 March, 6-7.30pm.
