Areas of interest

I have a strong interest in research related to nutritional and biological effects on cognition, mood and mental health.

Specific areas of interest include:

  • Polyphenols (flavonoids) and cognitive function/mood
  • Glycaemic response, Type 2 diabetes and cognitive function/mood
  • Gut-Brain axis (e.g. psychobiotics for cognition and mood)
  • Lifespan relationships between habitual diet, cognitive function and general health
  • Dietary behaviour change interventions
  • Nutritional and dietary effects on sleep
  • Exercise and cognitive function/mood
  • Impact of diet on mental health
  • Exploration of biological mechanisms for cognitive and mental health
