Fees for home students

Find a course

Postgraduate tuition fees

Standard fees for UK students starting in 2025/26 studying full-time are:

  • £11,750 a year for non-laboratory courses (Band 1)
  • £12,800 a year for subjects with significant laboratory study or workshop content (Band 2).

Although the majority of the University’s courses are charged at the standard Band 1 or Band 2 level, certain courses attract a premium course fee. These include Henley Business School courses. Please visit the for full information.

Part-time fees are calculated at 50% of the standard fee, or pro rata for modular programmes.

A number of our courses will also require a deposit to be paid in order to secure your place. This will be stated on your offer of admission should it be required.

In the majority of cases, fees are payable in two instalments: 50% on enrolment and 50% on the first day of week 13 in Semester 1 of your studies. If you are approved for a UK government master’s loan, you can pay your tuition fees in three instalments.

Postgraduate research

Fees for postgraduate research students can be found on our Doctoral and Researcher College website.

Alumni discount

If you completed your undergraduate degree with us, you're entitled to a discount on your master's degree at Reading. You'll automatically receive 20% off the cost of your full-time tuition fees.

Fees policy for students

Find out more about tuition fees and your financial obligations as a student by reading the University's Fees Policy.

Funding support for home students

Most postgraduate students fund their studies through a mixture of government loans, savings, part-time work, and any scholarships and bursaries they are awarded.

You can currently borrow up to £12,167 through a repayable government loan scheme for master’s programmes starting on or after 1 August 2023. Loans are available for students:

  • under the age of 60
  • who don’t already have a master’s qualification or a higher level qualification, such as a PhD.

Please visit the  for more information.

We also have an extensive range of master's scholarships available. Find out more on our master's scholarship page.

There is also a plentiful supply of part-time work available on campus which can help with living costs. See Campus Jobs for more information.

Postgraduate fees statement

Unless stated otherwise, all fees quoted on postgraduate course and research pages are for the academic year 2024/25. Full fee information will be detailed in any offer letter sent out.

Placement year/study abroad fees

If you spend a full academic year studying abroad or working on a placement as part of your master's degree, you’ll only pay partial tuition during the year away from Reading. This is currently set at 15% of the normal tuition fee and applies to home and international students.

You’ll still need to budget for local living costs (such as accommodation, food, travel, visa fees and medical insurance), which may be more expensive if you spend the year abroad. Home-fee students can apply to be considered for a placement bursary to help with expenses.

This applies only to situations where the full year is spent abroad or on placement. Where only a part of the year is spent abroad or on placement, the full tuition fee is payable to the 色狗导航 as normal.

PGCE fee updates

Following the published on Monday 4 November 2024, the 色狗导航 undergraduate home tuition fees for 2025/26 entry have been revised.
